Looking-Glass
Well-Being
Tired of Dumbing
Down?
... Evolve! (and try a Mini-Mission!)
Where
do you fit in?...
Are you still
dumbing down?
Still "too busy" apparently?
Still burning yourself out just to impress?
Loosing the plot?
... Or are you evolving?
The fact that you are
reading this next paragraph suggests you have a longer attention
span than the majority of web users!
On average, surfers spend no more than 10 seconds browsing the
contents of a single web page (which either says something about
the web page or the surfer!) - so a whole page of text usually
stands no chance. But if you show the attentiveness to absorb
the vibe of Looking-Glass then you may be aspiring towards a higher
plane of thinking.
In fact, finding patience to read and take in the inspirational
essence of a guide such as this will not only trigger positive
changes within you but you may subliminally inspire others to
follow your lead.
Why?
Skimming over sound-bites, browsing comments and signing web petitions
rarely motivates long-term change for the internet majority. With
lifestyles in westernized cultures being fast-edited into snapshots
of superficial existence (no thanks to dumbing-down TV, Americanized
marketing gobbledegook, disposable income and a profusion of short-lived
gadgets to spend it on), wouldn't it make a change to tap into
a dormant realm of your own life-force that could completely enlighten
and realign your sense of purpose on this earth forever?
This page offers some guidance on how to step outside the periphery
of short-sighted cultural influences and realize the unparalleled
benefits of "natural aspirations".
There is no reason to feel that by exploring areas of compassion
as a life-affirmation that you are engaging in a radical protest
or an obsessive cause. On the contrary, because it is only true
intellgence that walks that path of life - providing you aspire
to such causes non-violently and with engaging diplomacy.
There's no getting away from the fact that planetary survival
is on the downward spiral and even the media are realising the
increasing importance of projecting the appalling state of affairs
our world is in ... all because of how we have treated it and
its occupants. Discussion on global instability, whether social,
humanitarian or environmental has now often become requisite at
trendy diner parties - even though it's just a token jesture of
acknowledgement rather than a serious discussion to do anything
about it.
And this is the
point ...
Normally, people will react
to a cause only because it may momentarily affect them. For example,
the firework campaign on these sites triggers off a flurry of
votes only when a loud bang during national celebrations reminds
them to think about the detrimental effects to animals and sensitive
areas of the community. A news item highlighting the plight of
children starving in a third-world country does the same thing
- alerting the comfortable-classes to reach for their credit card
and the phone. But these short-lived expressions of compassion
are actions of a society's guilty sub-conscience, because the
other 99% of their lives are driven by self-serving conformity
- living a non-reciprocal life designed to enhance their own well-being
above all else.
Whether we are a starving Ethiopian orphan or a company executive,
humanity is primarily driven to take more than give. However,
this trait can be adapted to actually serve a positive purpose
by a small readjustment as to what aspires each of us individuals
to attain what we recognise as a level of self-achievement.
This is possible by understanding the reciprocal balance of nature,
and the following paragraphs should help you achieve that harmonic
... without you loosing any social credibility!
Your
Ascension To A Naturally Aspired Lifestyle
Being guided by natural
aspirations means to unreservedly strive towards a way of living
and thinking that's harmonious with the natural world ... to naturally
desire what is instinctively right; as to how to live life in
harmony with the planet. On such a path you unconditionally feel
a strong and consistent urge to find the equilibrium within you
that connects you with the natural alignment of earth's evolution,
and therefore the universe itself.
The word "aspire" normally relates to people wishing to reach
and attain something for personal gain and achievement. So that
would be a cerebrally driven aspiration whereby one is aiming
for so-called success on the hierarchy of social standing and
affluence; things like a pop or film star or in fact any kind
of self-profiting academic or business venture etc. "Naturally
aspired" plays on that definition by suggesting that altruistic
aspirations can be motivated through other areas of your brain,
like the limbic system, rather than the mental / motor dexterity
of the cerebellum. In fact, the human race is in danger of becoming
dissociated from the huge least understood area of our brain;
which harbour receptors that channel emotions and instinctive,
independent thinking - as we become more and more technologically
attuned to computer-based interaction and non-emotional calculation.
This is causing an ant-like singularity based on patterns of cerebral
based human wiring - almost identical to computer technology,
which is a mirrored representation of the human cerebellum.
(More about this in detail coming soon )
Feeling naturally compelled to save nature for example, or help
people understand the global advantages of becoming vegetarian
etc. are all natural aspirations. So these can be put into action
by rooting yourself in the natural world around you; striving
as a human to work with the planet. It's an action that you might
call unconditional interdependency and you will need to recognise
that such actions create not just personal achievement but a reciprocal
achievement; helping the planet to help yourself. Therefore, vocational
aspirations are perfectly acceptable and even neccessary to persue
life achievments with a sense of wellbeing, but doing so in accordance
to the parameters that will trigger reciprocal benefits for the
planet. If you can get that balance right you'll come across far
more credible and cool as someone for other people to aspire to.
You become the trendsetter towards a naturally aspired way of
thinking amongst your peers and even on a global scale!
Looking-Glass is not
specifically a self-help mission trying to save people from their
own folly; but its aim is to save the planet from people's destructive
behaviour - and by initiating the thought that people can harness
nature as an aspirational exercise is perhaps the best example
to follow.
Syncopate yourself to the
pulse of your home-world and discover the most naturally aligned
universal harmonic ...
Peace within you from around you.
As you may have realized when reading
on the introduction to the Looking-Glass Well-Being
Gateway, "self" improvement is only half
the story when making a positive difference to your life:
" The Looking-Glass definition of well-being is mainly
about how you outwardly reflect your life mission; your view of
the world outside your own body and how much you care about the
Earth on which you live and breath.
Helping to nurture the planet back into good health will automatically
bring benefits to you ... because the positive energy you give
out will return to you. The transparent effect of such a compassionate
endeavour is that you are rewarded with a clear inner conscience
and ultimately a healthier journey through your life ... inwardly
and outwardly. That is the true harmonics of well-being."
This above is an important affirmation
and worth repeating to yourself, as it underlines the natural
foundation of the Looking-Glass philosphy and points you towards
the goal that you may eventually aspire to reach.
Mini-Missions
Here
are some examples of how you might integrate natural aspirations
into your own world, to achieve a lifestyle and even vocational
goals that leave you with a clearer conscience - and an uplifting
sense of achievement at no cost to the planet. Even monetarily,
these examples don't cost anything extra and you don't need to
make major changes ... you'll just be making a difference as part
of the natural flow of compassionate
awareness.
These are called Mini-Missions:
TRAVEL
There is no doubt that contention is growing over the use of gas-guzzling
four-wheel drives - the status symbol of those ignorant city people
who clearly don't give a hoot about the environmental impact their
behaviour is causing. It's likely that you may even know people
like this and simply because you are friends with them, you are
either concerned but too polite to confront them about it or too
anaesthetized by the relationship to consider it a big deal anyway.
Well, it is a big deal, because it is only through people being
willing to speak out amongst friends about it that slowly but
surely the message will hit home.
Your mini-mission takes four roles here:
- 1. If you drive your own car,
make steps to either have it converted to LPG or replace your
car with a fuel efficient model that will get you at least 60mpg.
Vegetable based fuels are becoming increasingly available so always
check with your car dealer that whatever car you buy that it will
run on these alternative fuels when they become available in your
area. Remember that using vegetable based fuel means that as much
Co2 is absorbed by the crops that grow the 'fuel' as Co2 is released
as you drive! Also remember that, in the long-term you will also
save money.
- 2. Make a point of highlighting
the benefits of 'green' driving to your friends.
- 3. Walk or cycle whenever you
can. It's an obvious suggestion (mini-mission), but it's all to
easy to jump in the car just to a couple of hundred metres to
grab a takeaway!
- 4. Due
to the increasing concern over the environmental impact of aircraft
travel (especially short-haul flying), it's time, right now, to
explore alternative means of travel that are kinder to the environment.
Remember, the amount tonnage of Co2 emissions you alone create
when flying a round trip from the UK to Spain is the average equivalent
of around 6 months driving in your car. Or a one way trip to New
York from London means you need to plant around 60 trees to compensate
for all the greenhouse gases you alone would have used up.
Train travel, particularly across Europe is an enjoyable and relaxing
experience. More details for UK travellers can be found
here
HOME WORKING ENVIRONMENT
More people each year are now working from home and are often
using an outhouse for an office. This kind of layout is ideal
to create an independent alternative energy source to run the
electrics for most of your office/studio needs. The roof of your
outhouse / shed makes an ideal surface for a solar panels. And
a small (bird-safe) wind turbine will also sit perfectly on the
roof. With these combined and properly installed you can easily
run all your interior lighting and a laptop computer with an extra
LCD monitor, plus a small music system.
With such an ecofriendly layout you can feel confident that perhaps
8 hours of your day are spent without using up earth's non-renewable
energy. (And in the long-term, saving you money)
LEATHER
Leathers sofas and leather car interiors represent just two of
the most widespread and easily attained "luxuries" which kill animals
and destroy sensitive ecosystems for no other reason than decadence.
Each year, leather is becoming cheaper and more abundant (in fact,
anyone with taste that hits a little deeper will recognise that leather furniture is
simply tacky as well as murderous), but there is an even more
'irreversably destructive' reason why leather is a definite no
go - even for non-veggies.
Much of the leather in your house and car is the skin stripped
from beef cattle (and young calves), farmed on deforested land
- much of which was precious rain forest in Brazil. First you
need to make the connection that you are indirectly causing death
and irreversable destruction, and once you do, allow the guilt
to take-over, accept it and change your way of thinking; don't
fight it! - there's no room for pride when asserting a change
in your own behaviour that could help save lives and entire ecosystems.
When you buy leather you are not only killing cows but also apes
and hundreds of other species associated with the destruction
of the natural world.
Whether you are vegetarian or not, make it a Mini-Mission to avoid
buying decorative, fashionable or any lifestyle item which involves
the killing of animals - most particularly, threatened, wild species.
SOY
We tend to buy organic products
to feel better about ourselves and the planet, but when you buy
food made with organic soy, make sure that you aren't buying soy
that has come from illegal plantations in Brazil. Thousands of
square miles of Amazon rain forest are being destroyed each year
because they are cut down to make way for organic soy plantations.
So check with your supermarket where the soy beans came from,
before inadvertently contributing to the destruction of the world's
most precious environment for animals and trees. Some organic
soy products are rain-forest friendly, so make it a mini-mission
to find out which!
PALM OIL
Like Soy, most palm oil is
destroying the last of the world's rain forest and with it driving
orangutans to extinction. One
in ten of supermarket products contain palm oil; from foods like
bread, crisps and chocolate to cosmetics, soaps, shampoos and
toothpaste. So each time you go shopping, ask questions. A shop
manager will probably have no idea, but persist and make sure
your question is logged. An action like this will eventually make
the manufacturers listen and do something positive about it.
Looking-Glass
keeps you on course
Those
of you who aspire to the instinctive harmonics in global compassion,
cultural and artistic mood, will realise that you are exploring
a web environment which harnesses all these - your favourite things.
Looking-Glass aims
to provide you with a cool, refined and pure-happening view of
the wonderland paradigm.
The unparalleled natural instinct by which this web experience
is created provides you with quality interaction through carefully
reviewed items and info. There's more substance here than web
novelty and gimmicks, leaving room for reflection and passive
motivation towards world healing.
Looking-Glass,
along with VeggieGlobal is a cyber-solar system. It sounds a little
corny, but that's exactly how it structurally works. Like all
communities, cities, countries and planets, there is a source
- or nucleus - that provides the the essence of Looking-Glass
this entire web matrix. So even though each environment may be
different there is a presence of this philosophy supporting each
area. In this way, you'll find many useful gateways and paths
leading to quite different cultural interests and environments
- helping you to build up your Mini-Missions.
The aura that encircles this planetary mosaic is awakening, soothing
and reflective - evoking dormant thoughts and dreams - both light
and shade. If you once aspired to inner resolutions before the
world grabbed you by the unmentionables and dragged you through
life's pantomime, then perhaps the Looking-Glass Dreambeat will
reawaken those aspirations!
Understanding
the tapestry of the material and non-material universe.
Dreambeat is a term
created by Looking-Glass that reflects an essence of instinctive
purity across the planet and the universe or, in fact, the "paraverse".
(Something that will be explained in a future site update). Even
in arts and music the essence of "dreambeat" can sometimes
be detected, and shows that there are elements of human creativity
which harmonize with the karmic balance. It's not a religious
conotation in any way but instead an emotion drawn from nature,
and Dreambeat philosophies are crafted to resonate with natural
harmonics and complementary spectrums of colour. Like stardust,
the Dreambeat scatters its presence throughout the Looking-Glass
web retreat, and whenever you feel inclined you can explore its
meaning, which projects ways to help you transcend to a higher
plane of thinking.
Bringing a philosophy into a multi faceted environment can be
a tricky thing, needing careful and unobtrusive placement - and
Looking-Glass excludes nobody who wishes to explore this new and
unique perspective of compassion towards the better cause.
But remember, there is absolutely no element of religion attached
to this philosophy, and certainly no focus based on a single "author's"
overflourishing, empty interpretation - no group hypnosis - no
leadership. As mentioned in the Mission
Statement, Looking-Glass projects an ethereal quality, but
with also a more pragmatic view and substance - avoiding the pretence
of new-age psychobabble, academic jargon or contrived art-speak
... The Dreambeat only signifies the essence that triggers euphoria
or a realization of what is instinctively harmonious to all aspects
of the universe; the evaluation of mood and response through everyday
living and how judgement and action, both rational and irrational,
affects us as individuals - and as an entire planet.
You already may
consider yourself environmentally aware - You may already be vegetarian
and you may eat and live "organically". But are these
actions derived or contrived through fads and fashion?... Do you
actually have an organic personality?...!
To feel the pulse of
the dreambeat, you must imagine rooting yourself into this Earth.
Like a baby is pacified by its mothers heartbeat, humankind must
finally listen and respond to the fading pulse of mother Earth.
This way you can grow intellectually, intuitively and empathetically.
Regardless of fads and fashions you can be consistently
tuned to the natural harmonics of the universe, and in turn help
not only bring this planet back to life, but change humanity's
role from parasites into planetary gardeners.
With this in mind, it's hoped that you'll find food for thought
and enlightenment through our editorials as we want to help you
make wise and positively purposeful decisions. And above all,
Looking-Glass should naturally retain its exclusive appeal as
a safe haven, solely by attracting those who are driven by unreserved
compassion - and those whose subconsciously seek a path by which
to interact and transcend through contemplation and insight -
beyond the deceptions of everyday humanity. That is the aim of
this experience, and we hope you may harmonize with these opportunities
and breathe in the atmosphere presented here.
At this point you have a choice
